This is the blog of the UW State GEAR UP eMentors Program.
Our eMentors aim to supplement current programming serving GEAR UP students across Washington state by providing assistance and advice concerning college and scholarship applications, college transition questions, and other questions relating to the high school students’ transition from high school to college.
In addition to providing direct assistance to students via e-mail correspondence, the eMentors staff will also contribute regularly to this blog, writing on topics about their own professional, academic, and personal experiences. The blog is meant to act as a supplementary resource for students to have a glimpse into the real lives of current undergraduate students.
The Washington State GEAR UP program is a partnership of the Office of the Governor, the Higher Education Coordinating Board (HECB), the University of Washington, and the College Success Foundation (CSF). Together, we leverage funding and resources that provide direct, early intervention services to students in high-need schools. Currently, the UW State GEAR UP Project is housed under the University of Washington Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity.
If you have questions about the eMentors program or any of our other programs, please e-mail Jon Solomon, Educational Outreach Specialist, at solomonj [at] uw.edu.
